  • 4.1 Creating A Facebook Group: Why & How

Step 1: Creating Your Group: Go to Facebook and click on the down arrow in the upper right corner of the website and scroll down to Manage Groups. Once in Manage Groups, click on the Create Group button on the top of the left sidebar. A window will pop out and ask you to name the Group, scroll down to Add Some People and just add one person to be able to create the group (like your husband, BFF, etc). Set the privacy to private. Under Hide Group, leave it on Visible. Click the Pin to Shortcuts button in the lower left corner and then Create. You created your group, now let’s set it up! Step 2: Set up your Cover Photo: On a Facebook Group, your cover photo is prime real estate and the first thing that a person sees when they access your group by computer, phone or tablet. It is important. The cover photo should readily show what the group is about, clear message and clear fonts. Step 3: Set up your Group Description: On the right side of your FB Group there is an About section. Your "About" section is where you share why your group exists, what makes it so awesome, what members will experience in the group if they join, etc. Basically, your About is your "10 second elevator speech". It is also important to put your ordering website here so people can find it quickly. Step 4: Add Content to the Group: Post 3-5 posts into the Facebook Group before you invite anyone to join. No one wants to join an empty group, so be sure there are posts in there already for people to see. Step 5: Invite Customers to join your Customer Group/VIP Group: You are creating a community where all of your customers and potential customers are in one place. This is where you will build relationships and share information. It is your tribe, your club, your inner circle. This is going to become your favorite place on Facebook!
